Try marrying a Kamba girlBy Shem Luchiri, June 10 2008 The negotiation consisting of the bride price or dowry consists of commodities such as goats, cows and money in most African societies. The basic point of a marriage gift in African society is that it expresses gratitude on the bridegrooms family for having the honour and priviledge to have the woman for a bride to their son. Before the actual ceremony it is customary that the bridegroom and his family would go to the brides home and prepare a meal for them and dine together and finalise the dowry. Once all this is said and done all the necessary preparations are made by both families towards the wedding day. |

Expired title deeds still validBy INGONEWS Reporter, June 1 2008 There should, therefore, be no ambiguity on the security of land rights for any landowner in Kenya.
